How can we promote/ market sault ste maire?
Video Summary

Quality of life in northern ontario? how is it here what is your impression?
- northern ontario has a slower pace of life
- our quality of life is superior with not having to deal with all the larger city/urban area issues
-many of us probally live better because the the connection with nature.
- we need to have many oppportunities to keep our kids in this community as well as keeping our resources.
- we need to broaden the skill base of the workforce
when communities get smaller then the opportunities as well as work skills are slowly lost in a community. we need to try to maintain what we have as a community.
we need to stop the fascination of obscene growth we do not need massive cities the north has opportunities with its small rural areas we have room and communties.
do we need a separate province then if we are separated so much from southern ontario which is so different than us?
we need to put the attractions into small towns so that we attract people away from the big cities. we need to try to not centralize things but have them evenly spread!
to attract people to the smaller rural are we need to go back to what we did when we tried to encourage european immigrants to settle the west this is no difference than northern ontario we need to have a government policy to encourage people to smaller communities, so that they have the capacity to have the same opportunities as the larger cities.
sault ste marie is the portal to northern ontario we need to get people to the sault so they can notice and see the rest of northern ontario.
rural or northern communities need to keep track of their community send back information of people they know. we need to come together as a community to hold each other together. we need to keep people engaged in the community while they are away for example when they are gone to college/university.
low cost travel would be a great idea to help draw people to the are because then people would easily be able to visit home or travel around the area.
we need go look at bring entrepreneur skills or thinking in the area.
we need to keep the jobs in our country!
Should we split ontario so northern ontario is represented better?? why are we being run by people from ontario?
along with bringing jobs/supporting jobs in our communities we need to be eating/drinking/buying locally so that we are supporting them!
we need to keep the northern culture it is being lost in some ares instead of conforming and joining the norm we need to keep pushing on having northern culture
northern ontario has place we need to let them know what it is!
northern ontario has such a unique culture but it is spread apart we need to come together to make a common bond/ voice so that we are one people. northern ontario need to come together so that they can stay together.
there are 2 sets of voices
-government needs to do things for the community
-government doesn't do anything we will do things for ourselves.
we need one minister who represents on area, small towns do not have the time and resources to sit down with the government to make any changes.
we need a clear leadership and focus to get things done if we sit together and get everyone together then we can get the things done that need to be done.
we cant move forward without people coming together trying to fix things.
we need to change , we need to change our view on change. people do not like change but we need to realize the only way we can keep our economy living is if we change.
we need to good transportation links at an affordable rate so that we can tie into the rest of the world today. we do not want to pull away but that is what is happening because we seem to have such a difference from southern ontario
What strikes me each and every time, in both winter and summer, is the sheer beauty of the landscape. It is raw and rugged and untouched. The city of Timmins offers everything (as far as I have seen) that an urban dweller needs, yet just minutes from downtown you are in the "wild" where you will see more and brighter stars, hear a wonderful silence, and breathe the cleanest air. As a city dweller from Southern Ontario, it is an incredible feeling to truly get away from it all.
Here in the southern part of the province, our beloved Cottage Country (the counties of Muskoka, Haliburton and the Kawarthas) are rapidly becoming crowded and over populated. I suggest that Northern Ontario offer the weary urbanites a fresh respite from city life by travelling a few short hours (via air) north of Toronto to beautiful Northern Ontario.
