Issues around the closure of forestry industry in nothern Ontario

- require retraining of forestry workers in small communities like Wawa
- getting Sault Colleges to do Health Care retraining
- forestry service companies have already started to work for mineral exploration industry
- also there was mention of retraining for mining and mineral exploration
- money is available for retraining; would prefer to have it in communities affected
- future of these communities are in the resource sector i.e. mining and forestry
- also new economies - BioEconomy - such as wood fibre for wood pellets; planting trees to benefit from cap and trade
- point made that we need resource based economies as the foundation for these communities
- tourism requires many people to visit in order to support equivalent $
