There remains a moderated surge forward in the 'tech' industries in Waterloo but we are leaving behind, as in so many communities, those in their late 40s and 50s who have been in skilled industrial jobs, left unemployed by plant closures with no severance and plenty of frustrations as 'older' job seekers needing work.

What options are there for these folk who have been contributing and find they are lucky to find part time work driving a truck after expensive qualifying training?  New directions and hope need to be hand in hand as we plow through these uncertain times.
