| I am the Chair of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library Board, comprised of 8 Kingston-appointed trustees, 2 Frontenac County trustees, 2 Kingston City Councillors and 1 County of Frontenac Council member. KFPL is an amalgamated Public Library System which includes 5 urban and 12 rural library branches. www.kfpl.ca Its mission: Information and Enrichment for Everyone |
| Rural areas are evolving economically and demographically. To retain the young people and attract ex-urbanites seeking a different quality of life, higher levels of connectivity and access to the information world are crucial. The key to rural development is a more informed and innovative community. Illiteracy is a barrier to a community’s success, as is inferior connectivity. The public library should form part of the community’s innovation capacity |
