First, establish the elements that constitute quality of life in this day and age:

•          clean air and clean and sufficient water supply
•          recycle as much as is possible by educating our citizens about the ills of consumerism
•          care for the poorest, most needy members of our society
•          efficient and effective health care
•          sustainable development
•          provide the education and facilities for citizens to develop a relationship with our natural world
•          an effective education system
•          support innovation and research   
•          support local businesses thereby increasing the tax base a
•          developing and supporting the arts
•          initiate a 35 hour work week
•          establish a 'tolerant' society
•          ethical business practices (put a course in Business schools)   
•          promote and support family values
•          sustainable infrastructure...including bike paths
•          change our current voting system
